How to Enable SMS for Your Whitelabel Account Using Twilio

Learn how to set up SMS for your Whitelabel account with Twilio by completing A2P 10DLC compliance, creating a Messaging Service, and registering a campaign.

Updated over 2 months ago

Overview

To enable SMS with Twilio, you must first complete A2P 10DLC compliance, which verifies your business and messaging use case. Only after this verification can you use a Twilio phone number to send SMS through your Whitelabel platform.

This process involves:

✔ Completing A2P 10DLC compliance verification
✔ Buying an SMS-enabled Twilio phone number
✔ Creating and verifying a Messaging Service
✔ Creating a Campaign in Twilio and assigning your phone number

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 – Complete A2P 10DLC Compliance

  • Log in to your Twilio Console.

  • Start the A2P 10DLC registration process.

  • Provide your business and messaging use case information.

  • Wait for verification approval (this may take some time).

💡 Important: You must complete this step before moving forward. A2P 10DLC compliance can take time, so start early.

Step 2 – Get a Twilio Phone Number

  • In the Console, go to Buy a Number.

  • Use the filters to select numbers with SMS capabilities.

  • Choose a number from the list and click Buy to add it to your account.

Step 3 – Create a Messaging Service

  • In the Twilio Console, go to Messaging → Services.

  • Click Create Messaging Service.

  • Give your service a name (e.g., “Awaz SMS Service”).

Step 4 – Configure the Messaging Service

  • Open the Integration section of your new Messaging Service.

  • Add the SMS-enabled Twilio number you purchased to the Sender Pool.

  • Complete the Messaging Service setup.

Once complete, your Awaz application can send SMS messages using your Twilio phone number and account credentials.

Step 5 – Create a Campaign

  • Once A2P 10DLC compliance is approved and your Messaging Service is set up, go to the Campaigns section of Twilio.

  • Create a new Verified Campaign.

  • Assign your SMS-enabled number to this campaign.

  • Connect the campaign to your Messaging Service.

👉 Once all these steps are complete, your Whitelabel platform can send SMS messages using your verified Twilio numbers.
