Creating and Managing a Knowledge Base

Train your AI agents to respond intelligently by uploading documents, URLs, or FAQs using the Knowledge section in Awaz.ai.

Overview

Knowledge Bases allow your AI agents to reference structured data — such as company FAQs, product files, or website content — while on a call. This guide walks you through how to create a new Knowledge Base, add content to it, and assign it to your AI agents.

By the end of this guide, you’ll know how to:

✔ Create a Knowledge Base collection
✔ Add content via Text, File, or URL
✔ Assign Knowledge Bases to AI agents
✔ Understand limits and pricing


Step 1 – Navigate to the Knowledge Section

  1. Log in to your Awaz.ai dashboard.

  2. From the left-hand menu, click Knowledge.

  3. Click + New Knowledge Base and give it a title, such as “Company FAQ” or “Product Docs.”

💡 Tip: Create separate bases for different topics or teams for easier management.


Step 2 – Add Items to Your Knowledge Base

Each Knowledge Base supports three types of entries:

1. Text Snippets

Click +Item and choose Text. You’ll be prompted to enter:

  • A Question your customers might ask

  • A Specific Answer you want the AI to use

Example:
Question: “What’s your return policy?”
Answer: “You have 30 days to return any item for a full refund, no questions asked.”

This helps ensure the AI gives consistent, accurate responses to common queries.

2. File Uploads

Choose File, give it a title, then drag or select a file to upload.

  • File size limit: 2MB per file

  • Accepted formats: PDF, DOCX, and similar document types

💡 Important Note: Awaz.ai customers are charged $10 per file.

Whitelabel users are not charged for uploads.

3. URLs

Choose URL, click +Add Website, and enter a link.
The AI will scan the content and store it for use in future conversations.

Don’t forget: After adding your items, click Save to make sure they’re stored in the Knowledge Base.


Step 3 – Review Limitations

Each individual Knowledge Base supports:

  • Up to 300 URLs

  • Up to 50 text entries

  • Up to 25 files (each max 2MB)

💡 Tip: You can create multiple Knowledge Bases if you need more capacity. An AI agent can be assigned more than one Knowledge Base for more comprehensive knowledge access.


Step 4 – Assign Knowledge Bases to AI Agents

To have your AI use the data:

  1. Go to Agents in the sidebar.

  2. Select or edit the agent you want to update.

  3. In the Agent Settings tab, find the Knowledge Base dropdown.

  4. Select one or more previously created Knowledge Bases to assign.

Your AI agent will now pull dynamic answers from both its Freestyle Prompt and the attached Knowledge Bases during conversations.
